5 Minutes with Roddy Lima

Truesoul has unveiled its final new signing of 2025, a slick two-tracker ‘EYES’ from ascendent Brazilian producer Roddy Lima. The artist has been turning heads over the last couple of years thanks to a huge collaboration with Vintage Culture ‘Analog Ascent’, alongside releases on John Summit’s Experts Only and Lee Foss’ Repopulate Mars. With his debut on Adam Beyer’s Truesoul just out, EDM Tunes caught up with him to learn more about his story.

Hey Roddy, please introduce yourself to those unfamiliar.

I’m Roddy Lima, a Brazilian DJ and producer who loves art and travels the world playing my beats.

You hustled from an early age – starting as a bedroom producer with no industry contacts and experience to become a mainstay of the Brazilian scene. What was a key breakthrough moment for you?

I’m from a small countryside city and I never had contacts or money – everything has always been about the music. In recent years, I’ve broken barriers thanks to my sound.

What advice would you give to other artists starting out on their music journeys who feel stuck or like they’re struggling to have their music heard?

Give your best and love what you do. A lot of people are doing this nowadays, but the ones who stand out are the ones who truly love it.

Tell us about the creation of ‘EYES’. Are you structured with how you write your tracks and follow a set workflow? Or do you just let things flow and see where you end up?

My process is very fast. I made this EP between one tour and another, searching for a darker sound with a hypnotic atmosphere and drums with a lot of punch.

How did you get hooked up with Adam Beyer and Truesoul?

I’m a big fan of Adam’s sound and I’ve been sending him music for some time. I’m really happy that he’s been enjoying my work.

Tell us about where you grew up and your exposure to electronic music?

I grew up in a small town in Paraná, and there weren’t many parties. So I used to throw a lot of private parties with my friends.

Give us a top place to drink, dance and eat in your hometown?

I would definitely go to a rave at Granja Martini.

As 2025 draws to a close, tell us about a highlight of the year and something you’d like to manifest for 2026.

There were many highlights this year, but I’d say the internationalization of the project was a big step. It’s something I want to develop even more in 2026.
