Tomorrowland 2025 Mainstage Fire: Latest Developments

Tomorrowland confirmed that a Wednesday afternoon fire completely destroyed the Orbyz Mainstage for its 2025 edition. Festival organizers released a deeply emotional update Thursday morning, calling the beloved structure “no more,” and promising contingency plans ahead of the weekend’s kickoff.

As reported earlier by EDMTunes, flames broke out during final setup for the mainstage at De Schorre in Boom, Belgium. No injuries were reported, and emergency services swiftly contained the blaze. Still, the damage was extensive. Known for its elaborate storytelling and towering visuals, the mainstage played a central role in the Tomorrowland experience. But, it was rendered unusable just days before opening.

No Impact to DreamVille or Other Stages

In its Thursday morning update, Tomorrowland described the Orbyz Mainstage as “a creation born from pure passion, imagination, and dedication.” The team said it was “impossible to put into words what we’re feeling.”

The update confirmed that the Tomorrowland 2025 mainstage fire did not affect any other stages or festival areas. DreamVille, the on-site camping area, opened at 10:00 a.m. local time on Thursday. All Global Journey activities in Brussels and Antwerp are also proceeding as planned.

“We spent the night working on possible solutions for the Mainstage area,” organizers wrote. Organizers have yet to announce details on a replacement stage or layout. Still, full programming updates are expected in the coming hours.

Artists and Fans Respond to Tomorrowland 2025 Mainstage Fire

EDMTunes previously reported on Tomorrowland’s first official statement, which acknowledged the incident but stopped short of confirming the mainstage’s total loss. Since then, festivalgoers and artists have taken to social media to express solidarity. Names like Hardwell, Martin Garrix and Charlotte de Witte have offered their support to the Tomorrowland team, praising their resilience and creativity.

“We all know how strong Tomorrowland is when it comes to rising above it all. TML is more than the mainstage! Sending the best energy!” wrote Alok on Instagram, echoing the sentiment shared by many in the global dance music community.

The Tomorrowland team is pushing forward, honoring the artistry behind Orbyz while adapting to the new reality.

“This wasn’t just a stage. It was a living, breathing world,” the update read. “But we hold on to the magic Orbyz gave us. To the dreams it carried. To the team who gave their all.”

What a Stage It Would Have Been

With this devasting news going global, the closely guarded secrets of the Orbyz stage design could no longer stay secret. The nearly final stage was revealed to be absolutely breathtaking, possibly the best design the festival has ever had. With the amazing work of the Tomorrowland team unable to be experienced in person, at least we can share how beautiful it was.

What Comes Next for Weekend 1?

With the first weekend of Tomorrowland 2025 beginning Friday, attention now turns to how the team will transform adversity into innovation.

In past years, Tomorrowland has navigated challenges such as COVID-era cancellations and international travel restrictions by shifting to digital formats and adjusting operations. All eyes are now on Boom, Belgium, to see how the show goes on after the Tomorrowland 2025 mainstage fire.

A New Mainstage?

Local media is reporting that artists received an email from Tomorrowland indicating that a new mainstage would be built. To add to this, Miss Monique posted an IG story saying she will perform on the “new mainstage” on Saturday. At this point all of this can be taken with a grain of salt since the decision is still in the hands of the Boom mayor. Plus, a “new mainstage” will be a mainstage in name only, so don’t get your hopes up about how grand it might be. The Tomorrowland team is extremely talented and hardworking but they are not magicians. There are only so many things that are feasible at this point. We will have to wait and see when we get an official update. Another press conference is expected at 6pm Belgium time.

This is a developing story. Check back with EDMTunes for the latest Tomorrowland 2025 updates, artist reactions, and schedule announcements.
