Ajamu Kambon, CEO and Co-Founder of Deep Root Tribe and Deep Root Records, will be honored with the first Afro House Label Maverick Award at the HollyShorts Film Festival. The award ceremony will take place on August 12, 2025, at the TCL Chinese Theatres in Los Angeles. This award recognizes the important role Deep Root Tribe has played in advancing House and Afro House music globally. Under Kambon’s leadership, Deep Root Records has become a notable platform supporting Afro-infused electronic music in the United States and abroad. Kambon’s accomplishments extend beyond music. The 21st HollyShorts Film Festival runs from August 7 to 17 and features a distinguished lineup, including Idris Elba, Stormzy, Michael Madsen, Viola Davis, and Stephen Fry. Alongside receiving the award, Kambon will participate in a Music Industry Panel hosted by HollyShorts and production company Framework, alongside respected industry figures such as Karaba, Mathematics from Wu-Tang Clan, Dr. Chaii, and Bantu.
