ilan Bluestone Lifts Final Single From Upcoming Album, ‘Mewo Fie’

The home stretch begins for ilan’s hottest body of work in years.

ilan Bluestone is a man we’ve been following for years. Ever since breaking into Anjunabeats with hit after hit, he’s shaped the sound of Trance, to the point his Tronce sound is instantly recognisable, and also widely produced around the world. And in just a few days, he’ll have his next artist album out to the world, Ignite, which will be released next Friday the 22nd on Anjuna.

Today, we’re having the final taste of the album with one last single lifted, one which comes to show ilan’s versatility as a producer. You’ve heard him in his iconic 128-130 BPM range, higher up as Stoneblue, and slightly deeper in songs like ‘Not Alone’ and ‘Amber Leaf’ with Spencer Brown. And now it’s time to go full-on Afro with ‘Mewo Fie‘.

‘Mewo Fie’

Personally, I’m very very happy to see this track, because it reunites Bluestone with one of my favourite people in the entire Dance music world: EL Waves. She’s lovely, one of the kindest people I’ve met along with her sister, and, sure to say, she’s got an iconic voice. If you’ve vibed to ‘Will We Remain?’ or ‘Mama Africa’, you’ll know what I’m talking about. Her voice transports you to another place.

It’s also an exciting time because I’ve been following ilan’s brother, Jonny Bluestone, ever since he began production, and here he is collaborating in the style he enjoys most. Also present in this monumental collaboration is newcomer Pieter T, breaking into the industry with quite the feat, I’d say.

A few years ago, my brother Jonny (who has been the biggest influence on my music and who lives and breathes Afro music), challenged me to step out of my comfort zone and create an Afro track… that same night, EL Waves and her husband, Pieter, were with us, and the three of us recorded a choir together to capture something raw, emotional, and authentic. I even added my own voice quietly in the background, blending into the layers that bring the song to life.

And this track is some serious Afro House, like, Afro from Africa, Black Coffee vibes. Fully led in the direction of EL Waves’ impeccable Ghanaian vocals, complemented by warm piano chords, tribal percussion, and heartwarming melodies, this track is much more of an introspective journey than a festival banger. It’s something delicate, intimate, made for the appreciation of the album. I love it already, and it’s just come out. I even hear some clever flute nods to ‘Gatekeeper’, from 2019. I’m in love.
