Desert Hearts Skipping 2026 to Refocus on Music and Community

Desert Hearts, the longtime house and techno collective known for its single stage, community-driven, independent events, announced today that it will not be moving forward with Desert Hearts Festival 2026. The crew said the decision, made to ensure the longevity of Desert Hearts down the line, follows an extensive run of behind the scenes work that pulled the team away from producing music and toward spreadsheets and Zoom calls. Fans reacted with a mix of disappointment and understanding, filling forums and social feeds with photos and stories from past editions and messages of support. The official update said every ticket will be fully refunded, which should go through within a few business days.

The crew explained they had intended a break after this year’s festival but ended up “throwing the best Desert Hearts Festival ever,” then went on sale for 2026 before realizing the full-scale production would conflict with artists’ schedules and personal lives. The pause, they said, will be used to “refill our creative cup, rebuild the foundation,” and refocus on music, smaller Love Bazaar parties, and possibly an intimate campout that returns to their roots.

Desert Hearts has positioned itself over the last two years as a boutique festival experience at Playa Ponderosa in Northern Arizona, with weekend long camping and a knack for community-first programming. Organizers framed the decision as a stewardship move meant to preserve the family and culture they’ve built over 13 years, signing off with the collective’s catchphrase: “House, Techno, & Love… We Are All Desert Hearts.”
