Homebass Pulls Last Minute Bait-and-Switch After Dirtybird CampINN Fiasco

The Dirtybird CampINN saga continues with yet another confusing and enraging milestone. Per discussions on Reddit and a less-than-favorable social media post, angered ravers are facing another deception from the Homebass team. Currently, Homebass stated all room packages are sold out, but there will be no hotel takeover at the Westgate Hotel in Orlando for EDC Weekend. Essentially, HomeBass pulled a bait-and-switch. They promised attendees the same experience as before: a full hotel takeover festival with multiple stages and fun vibes. Now, they are simply providing a few hotel rooms and an EDC shuttle, along with some deals on third-party afterparties. Then they attempt to rewrite history as if they never claimed the event was a hotel takeover.

In contrast, all the company provides is a shuttle service to the festival. Reddit posts also claim that there are only a handful of rooms reserved.

Homebass Takeover?

What appeared to be Homebass’s final stand to redeem themselves after the Dirtybird CampInn catastrophe might end in more disappointment. During Labor Day Weekend, the hosts of DirtyBird CampINN did not fully pay the hotel for the room packages. This caused the hotel to charge ravers hundreds of dollars to cover the cost. As a result, many ravers had to find last resort rooms or even stay in their cars. Moreover, many employees, including artists’ teams, did not get reimbursed. This meant they had to pay for their own stay and travel.

Just a few weeks ago, Homebass stated they finally achieved a new hotel that would host the “event”. However, they did not announce a lineup and stated the parties would only be available to people who purchased Homebass packages. This proved to be yet another farce. A social media post cleared up that there would be no actual parties at the Homebass hotel. They would only offer shuttles to and from EDC Orlando. Furthermore, the post directs readers to local afterparties that they can go to since they’re not hosting any. Homebass went from a full hotel takeover with daily music lineups, afterparties, and special surprises for guests, to a quiet gathering. They seem to be affiliating themselves with afterparties at Mangoes, but it’s unclear what that collaboration will entail. Will the hotel guests get free entry to those afterparties or will it simply be a discount, or maybe nothing besides pushing the HomeBass people to buy Mangoes tickets?

Uncertainty

Now, hundreds of ravers are not sure if they even have a room reserved after paying an overpriced package for a regular hotel experience. How will this turn out? We will find out eventually as we head to Orlando for another year of EDCO. This is a developing story…
