Opal Drums have released their debut EP, Sarsen Cinema, following their debut singles, ‘Burning Hammer’ and ‘Sunset Hex’. This project is a collaboration between UK turntablist Jon1st and Denver electronic artist Mux Mool.

They wrote the EP in studios located in Leicester and Denver. Sarsen Cinema shows how the two artists connect and their interest in creating unique soundscapes. Their music merges instrumental beats with contemporary club music. It tells a story about the mysterious arrival of large, breathing monoliths that create visions for those who approach them.

Opal Drums brings out mesmerizing percussive and bass sounds that draws in listeners to hear more of Sarsen Cinema

In the EP, Opal Drums combines rich sounds and catchy melodies with strong percussion and bass. This mix captures mixed feelings about the monoliths: fear, awe, devotion, and curiosity. The single ‘Burning Hammer’ shows raw energy, while ‘Sunset Hex’ goes deeper into hypnotic bass. Together, these songs introduce the world of Sarsen Cinema, where sound becomes vision and each rhythm tells part of a larger story.

The title Sarsen Cinema highlights a connection between the ancient and the modern. “Sarsen” refers to the stone used in ancient monuments like Stonehenge, while “Cinema” represents storytelling and perspective. In this world, sound transforms into vision, and rhythm creates myths. The EP also includes additional tracks; the EP’s title track itself, ‘From The Grove’, ‘Ultraviolet’, and ‘Runes’.

What to expect from the duo in the near future

Opal Drums blends both artists’ styles and sees their process as a collaboration. They do not stick to one tempo or music genre. Instead, they create a unified sound that will lead to immersive live performances in 2026.

Overall, Sarsen Cinema is more than just an EP. It serves as a portal into a sound that is both old and new, mechanical and human. This marks the beginning of the Opal Drums story.
