GRAMMY-winning producer and songwriter Tourist (William Phillips) has just released Music Is Invisible, his sixth studio album. Out now through Queens Road Music / AndRECORDS / Atlantic Records, the 11-track project is his clearest move yet into high-energy trance territory. After spending the past few years leaning into introspective, downtempo electronic work, Tourist flips the script here. The record is built on driving 140-BPM rhythms, layered synth arpeggios, and long, euphoric breakdowns that feel designed for warehouse systems rather than headphones. The album starts with ‘Invisible‘ ft. Julianna Barwick, a long, dreamy track full of soft vocals and warm chords that slowly lift you up. Then ‘Outside’ hits hard with fast arpeggios and a catchy vocal chop that bounces around. ‘Embrace‘ brings big supersaw melodies and a driving bassline that makes you want to move. ‘The Light In Others‘ keeps the energy with bright, scattered synths that feel warm and open. ‘Sparks’ is tighter and punchier, with sharp drums and a lead that keeps flickering in and out. Julianna Barwick comes back on ‘Capricorn,’ a calmer track with her airy voice over a steady, chilled beat. ‘In Unison‘ is the hardest one—fast, aggressive, and built for big rooms with a massive drop. ‘Love In Silence‘ ft. Real Lies adds spoken vocals and a darker, cruising vibe. ‘Veil‘ goes straight back to full-speed trance with that Grimes sample chopped over a relentless kick. The album ends with ‘Protector (Reprise)‘—just quiet piano and soft reversed sounds that fade everything out gently.Tourist Dives into Trance Territory With 6th Studio Album, ‘Music Is Invisible’
