Brooklyn Mirage Closure Leaves Five High-End Luxury Cabins Up for Sale

The Brooklyn Mirage’s prolonged closure—stemming from permit issues, major renovation delays, and Avant Gardner’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2025—left the East Williamsburg venue dark for the entire 2025 season. Among the unexpected remnants are five modular PEBL Grand cabins installed on the rooftop terrace in 2025 by Hungarian studio Hello Wood. Intended as private retreats for headlining DJs during sets, they were never occupied. The venue never reopened, so the units sat unused.

The cabins were designed as compact, high-end hospitality units—roughly 20.7 m² interior space—with a distinctive curved form resembling a smoothed pebble or capsule. Built around a timber shell and steel frame, they support customizable exterior panels (mirrored, stone, or other finishes) to blend into different settings. Each includes a king bed, small kitchenette, dining area, bathroom, infrared sauna, and large panoramic windows for views.

Hello Wood engineered them for rapid one-day installation using ground screws for minimal site impact, with full utilities (heating, cooling, plumbing, electricity) for year-round use, on- or off-grid capable. They position the design as equivalent to a two-person five-star suite in a portable format. In 2025, the PEBL Grand received Platinum in Mobile Homes at the Rome Design Awards, Gold in Architecture Project Development at the International Design Awards, and recognition as the year’s top mini-house by Domus Magazine.

With the site now under redevelopment for Pacha New York, Hello Wood is seeking new locations for all five units. Potential applications include private luxury retreats, boutique hospitality setups, event installations, or architectural features in other venues or properties.
