Anjunadeep returns today with Anjunadeep 16, mixed by James Grant and Jody Wisternoff, marking the next chapter in a series that has quietly shaped melodic electronic music since 2009. Out February 20, the sixteenth edition arrives after a longer-than-usual pause and that patience is part of the story. “It feels great to be finally sending our latest Anjunadeep compilation out into the universe,” James shared ahead of the release. He acknowledged the extended wait period, explaining that time was needed to create space around other projects, including album campaigns within the Anjuna family. “We hope it’s worth the wait.” From the opening moments, Anjunadeep 16 leans into atmosphere. Soft pads drift over restrained percussion before the groove gradually settles in. The transitions are seamless. Nothing jolts. Nothing feels rushed. Instead, the mix unfolds with control, easing from chilled textures into deeper melodic house rhythms, then flashing subtle trance-inspired sounds as the energy builds. Midway through, the pulse strengthens. Basslines roll warmer and more pronounced. The melodies widen. There’s a quiet lift in momentum, but it never tips into excess. This is head-down, eyes-closed music, patient, immersive, and designed for flow. For this chapter, the label traveled to Vietnam, capturing the mix against the dramatic landscapes of Tà Đùng National Park. Sweeping greenery, still waters, and expansive skies frame the visual component of the project, reinforcing the immersive quality that has long defined the series. Musically, the compilation balances established Anjunadeep mainstays with rising voices from the label’s roster. Familiar names like Cubicolor, Dosem, Marsh and Spencer Brown sit alongside emerging contributors including Durante, Ezequiel Arias and Amtrac, while several debut artists make their first appearance on the series. That balance has defined Anjunadeep since its founding in 2005 by Above & Beyond and James Grant. Over the years, the label has helped launch artists such as Lane 8, Yotto, Ben Böhmer and Eli & Fur, while the annual compilation series has consistently previewed the direction of the year ahead. This year’s edition will also be available on CD, alongside a limited 2×12” blue-black marble vinyl sampler featuring extended mixes that you can view on the official website here. The full video set premiered today on the Anjunadeep YouTube channel, inviting fans to experience the journey collectively and join featured artists in the live chat. After sixteen editions, the formula hasn’t grown predictable. If anything, Anjunadeep 16 feels refined. Confident in its pacing. Comfortable in its identity. It doesn’t demand attention, it draws you in slowly and keeps you there. Out now, Anjunadeep 16 is less about standout singles and more about the space between them. And that space is where it truly lives.[WATCH] Anjunadeep 16 Compilation Celebrated With Vietnam Set by James Grant & Jody Wisternoff
