Just weeks after celebrating the massive milestone of 600 episodes of Heldeep Radio, Oliver Heldens is back with his latest song: ‘Run’. Following the success of ‘Lady’ (Hear Me Tonight) has became one of his most supported records in recent years, earning backing from some of the biggest names in electronic music, including Calvin Harris, Carl Cox, Afrojack and many more! The single continues to build momentum commercially, climbing the charts. “Last year, towards the end of summer, I had been hearing PinkPantheress’ hit ‘Illegal’ many times, and I loved how they used that Underworld ‘Dark and Long’ synth sample. Inspired by that synth, I wanted to do something similar, but a bit more melodic and melancholic, and that’s how the idea for ‘Run’ originated,” Heldens says. “While developing the idea into a fresh ‘Trance meets Deep House’ groover, I was quite inspired by the likes of KETTAMA and Chris Stussy. Chris really liked the track and gave me some useful feedback. After trying many different vocals on the track, there was this ‘Run’ vocal sample that turned out to be a match made in heaven. It’s simple and catchy, but it holds a lot of emotion, and it just goes along so nicely with the melancholic trance chord synths and the funky deep house bassline. I love this track, and it’s been great to see all the positive reactions from fans already.
