We sat down with Alphones to dive deeper into his influences, sound, and creative process.

Hi Alphones, how are you?
I’m good! It’s nice to meet you.

What first drew you to the world of electronic music?
I’ve always been so passionate about every music genre; it always had a special place in my life. But there was a moment around 10 years ago, when I realised I wanted to make music myself: I was at Brunch Electronic in Barcelona, and what can I say? It was love at first sight.

Being based in Turin, how would you say the city has influenced your sound and approach to music production?
As a former industrial town, Turin has always had a strong connection with the underground scene and, of course, House and Techno music. This vibrant environment allowed me to meet many people involved in the process, to learn from them, and also be inspired by constantly evolving sounds.

Which artists or producers have influenced your sound the most throughout your career?
Throughout my career, I’ve been deeply inspired by a range of artists. Early on, Daft Punk and Masters At Work had a huge influence on me, especially their ability to blend funk, House, and groove into something truly timeless. As my sound evolved, I found myself drawn to Seth Troxler for his eclectic style and deep connection with the underground House scene. Dennis Ferrer has also been a huge inspiration, especially for his ability to bring soulful elements into Tech-driven House music. I also admire more contemporary producers like Jamie Jones and Hot Since 82 for their modern, forward-thinking take on House music. These artists have shaped my musical identity by teaching me to respect the past while constantly pushing for new, innovative sounds.

For a newcomer to your music, how would you describe your signature sound?
I’d describe my sound as a blend of high-energy Tech House with funky, groovy undertones. It’s rooted in the classic elements of House music, but with a forward-thinking twist, incorporating intricate rhythms, Tech-inspired textures, and driving basslines. Whether it’s a peak-time banger or something more melodic, I always aim to create music that connects deeply with the dancefloor, bringing an energetic yet soulful vibe that resonates with people.

Can you walk us through your typical workflow in the studio? Do you have a set process, or does it vary with each track?
My process tends to be fluid, depending on the vibe I want to capture. Sometimes, I’ll start with a melody or a particular groove that comes to mind and build around that. Other times, I might start with a strong bassline or a Techy drum loop and let that drive the direction of the track. I love experimenting with textures and sounds, so I spend a lot of time finding unique samples or tweaking synth patches to give my tracks a distinctive feel. While there’s no strict formula, I do believe in letting the track evolve naturally, allowing for spontaneous creativity in the studio.

What track from your catalogue would you recommend to someone discovering your music for the first time? Why does it stand out to you?
I would recommend starting with Freedom.” It’s a track that really captures the essence of my sound—funky, groovy, but with a Tech-House edge that keeps the energy high. It stands out to me because it represents both the soulful and the Tech-driven sides of my music. The infectious groove combined with the powerful rhythms makes it a track that really connects with audiences, whether they’re on the dancefloor or just listening. It’s a great introduction to the balance of groove and Tech elements that define my style.

Are there any genres outside of House and Techno that influence your work?
Absolutely! I’m a huge fan of funk and soul music, and you can hear elements of that in a lot of my productions, especially in the basslines and rhythmic patterns. I also love jazz for its improvisational nature, which often inspires how I approach melodies and structures. Hip hop is another big influence, especially when it comes to sampling and creating beats with a raw, rhythmic punch. I think exploring these genres helps me bring a richer and more diverse flavour to my House and Tech House tracks.

What is your favourite part of performing live, and how do you tailor your sets to create an immersive experience for the audience?
The best part of performing live is the connection with the crowd—there’s nothing like seeing people lose themselves in the music and feeling that energy flow back to me. I tailor my sets to be a journey, starting with grooves that set the mood and gradually building towards high-energy, peak-time tracks that make the crowd go wild. I like to throw in unexpected transitions or tracks to keep things exciting, but it’s always about reading the room and creating a vibe that keeps everyone engaged and immersed in the moment.

Can you tell us a fun fact about yourself that might surprise your fans?
A fun fact that might surprise people is that, alongside my music career, I also work in interior design and the world of furniture. I find a lot of parallels between creating spaces and creating music—it’s all about balancing aesthetics, mood, and functionality, whether I’m designing a room or producing a track. Just like in music, I love to experiment with different textures, colours, and layouts to create something unique and inspiring. It’s a different creative outlet, but both passions feed into each other in unexpected ways.

Looking ahead, what are your goals for the next stage of your career? Are there any specific ambitions you’re aiming to achieve?
Looking ahead, I want to continue pushing the boundaries of my sound and expanding my reach internationally. I’m working on a few collaborations with other artists, which is something I’m really excited about. One of my goals is to release a full-length album that captures the essence of my journey so far. I’d also love to perform at more international festivals and clubs, bringing my sound to new audiences. Ultimately, my ambition is to keep evolving, stay inspired, and create music that resonates with people around the world.
