Berlin Club Closures Explored in New Book, HUSH

Since the beginning months of the pandemic, Berlin clubs remain closed to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. With their unfortunate silence since then, a new book has surfaced exploring and uncovering the virus’ impact on these clubs.

HUSH – Berlin Club Culture in a Time of Silence, shares the works of photographer Marie Staggat and journalist Timo Stein. The authors visited over 40 Berlin clubs between April and December 2020. They captured pictures and conducting interviews with those involved in the business, including bartenders and toilet attendants.

At first glance, HUSH is a book about clubs during the coronavirus crisis,” a press release states, “at second glance, it’s also a book about what home can be.”

In addition to photos and interviews, the book includes contributions from well-known institutes such as KitKat, Arena Club, OHM, Tresor, and Watergate.

HUSH releases to the public on March 1, 2021. It will be available to view at the clubs showcased in the work, leading bookstores, and at www.parthasverlag.de.
