Charlotte de Witte – Asura EP

Charlotte de Witte is here with a brand new EP, Asura, on her KNTXT label. All three of the tracks are three original cuts exclusively included in her BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix. For those that caught that broadcast on September 18th, now you can have the tracks for your listening pleasure.

Asura‘ opens up the mix with a heart-pounding introduction. The sound takes a turn from her usual techno, and this is where we find Charlotte diving deep into her own past in electronic music. You hear the brightly lit techno bassline with big chords, adding color to the tone. Sleek and metallic synths make your heads nod while acid sounds accompanying the chanting vocals and rumbling bass add extra weight and depth to this opener. ‘Soma‘ is a dramatic and psychedelic track with hard-edged drums pounding away from the start. Beneath that strum celestial chords full of mystery and emotion, all while exuding darkness. Lastly, ‘Stigma‘ takes you for an emotional roller coaster on the psytrance tracks. Let this all-encompassing techno groove and bass fire you up like a machine gun. The acidic breakdown and drums roll will light up any crowd, as Charlotte usually does.

“With ‘Asura’ I’m trying to give you a little insight into my musical influences by going back to my roots. We’re speaking about a young Charlotte who, about 12 / 13 years ago, got indulged in the world of electronic music by going to her first underground clubs and raves. From electro and techno to acid core and hardcore to psytrance. This EP flirts with the soundscapes of the latter”.

Charlotte de Witte, on the album

We’ve seen Charlotte on a load of rosters, and she’s been quite busy. However, she’s also hard at work with Apple Music, under a new monthly KNTXT Residency Mix and KNTXT Active. Show her some support as she curates high-performance music, sports, and BPMs. Following the success of her collaborative track ‘The Age Of Love’ with Enrico Sangiuliano, listen to her latest EP below.
