COVID Uncertainty Causes Buku to Cancel 2021 Event

Buku, the legendary New Orleans festival, is an absolute banger of a time. Unfortunately, the pandemic has continued to push the festival out. They postponed the event in 2020, and eventually had to cancel it altogether due to a rise in cases.

Because of the uncertainty of what early 2021 will look like because of COVID, Buku has moved their next event to 2022. There was a moment at which 2021 looked to be when events would return with hopes of a COVID vaccine. However, this future timeline is now unclear. Even if a vaccine is approved, its dispersal will take time.

Buku is one of the first festivals to push to 2022, which is not surprising as it happens early in the year. Other events such as Ultra in Miami, held on the 26th-28th of March, and Coachella, held on the 9th-18th of April, will likely follow suit.

Buku Festival in 2019

Buku: Planet B, although not a replacement for their main event, has been slated for October 2021. They have planned it as an interlude of sorts, meant to satisfy their attendees’ wanting for an event since Buku won’t happen in 2021.

Regardless, the Buku team is looking forward to their next big event, setting their eyes on 2022 to continue the epic festival in their decade celebration.
