Singer-songwriter Dijon is back with a new single, “The Stranger,” enlisting Sachi, Dan Reeder, Tobias Jesso Jr., John C. Reilly, Raveena, and Becky and the Birds for additional vocals.
The dreamy acoustic track sees each of the vocalists singing about their encounters with strangers from different perspectives. The song serves as a follow up to his most recent release, a cover of Chaka Khan’s “Sweet Thing,” which dropped back in June.
“This strange idea of creating a bizarre posse song, similar to a scenario by A Tribe Called Quest or something, but with guitars,” Dijon said in a press release. “Different voices on the same guitar loop was intriguing and I asked people I knew if they wanted to try it… [we] randomly threw names in a hat of who would seem really strange and fun on it; mostly people we’d never heard on a song or on an album together.”
Earlier this year, Dijon released his last EP, How Do You Feel About Getting Married?.
