Toronto-based MC DillanPonders shared his latest single, “DISTURBIA,” ahead of the release of his full-length album BECAUSE WE’RE ALIVE due later this year. Featuring singer Allan Rayman, the track delves into the trappings of social envy over an eerie guitar loop, ambient synths, and a booming bassline.
“‘DISTURBIA’ is about what it’s like to be that kid in school who wants to hang out with the cool crew, but is too timid to ask,” explained Ponders. “I think that mentality has infiltrated so many different aspects of our lives, and clout-chasing feels like the motivation behind so many people’s decisions these days.”
Rayman offers a similar take on the track’s meaning and what it was like working on the collaboration. “It’s a very cool scene. A neighborhood of talented, special artists who have massive personalities,” he explained. “Features and working with other artists isn’t something that comes comfortably to me, however, Dillan is an exception.”
