Kasablanca has quickly risen through the ranks of Dance music must-see acts over the past four years. Launching into the scene with their first singles in 2020, they struck gold with their hit collaboration with Lane 8, ‘Run’ which has been streamed over 40M times. They haven’t looked back since. The duo’s journey has been explosive over the years since their first Human Learning EP in 2020. Kasablanca are widely known for their enthralling live performances. The duo has played some of the world’s most well-known venues and festivals. These include Printworks, Coachella, Red Rocks and The Gorge, alongside shows across four continents. Their songs include features on BBC Radio 1 and SiriusXM, the latter bringing in a #1 hit on BPM with ‘Run’. With the Side A release of their debut album, Higher Resolution, Kasablanca now take their next step on their meteoric rise. EDMTunes caught up with the duo (Micky & Viktor) for the Mumbai (India) leg of the Higher Resolution tour. Your highly acclaimed Higher Resolution Tour was a success. How do you foresee things panning forward? We are focused on creating quality music over the coming years starting with ‘Side B’ of ‘Higher Resolution’. The overall experience to the audience is at the forefront of our future shows. This is the prime agenda that rules the principle of our shows and tours (both past and future). Mickey, we know you have personally endured a difficult time over the last year (after being diagnosed with cancer towards the end of 2023). How does it feel to be back? It feels surreal. Never had I felt so motivated before. Expect a lot of new music and subsequent tours coming up. Kasablanca are reputed to fuse multiple elements of Progressive House, Techno, New Wave, etc, into an innovative sound of their own. How did you master the art of the same? It is a creative process that we have started experimenting with some years ago. This has slowly evolved over the years based on reactions and subsequent feedback we have received from the crowd and artists alike across the globe. The complexity of the Kasablanca sound is somewhat unique, we have particularly noticed on ‘Human Learning’ and ‘Higher Resolution’. Any comments? We just try to do what we do best. The trust for things to fall into their own place through the process is what we believe in. Takes a lot of patience & perseverance at times, but it is OK, given that we like and believe in the end product. Lastly, when is ‘Side B’ of ‘Higher Resolution’ coming out? 2025 for sure! Any tentative month we should be looking at? Naah, we just want it to be perfect!EDMTunes Chats With Kasablanca About Touring, Remission, And More
