Tuesday Early Morning, firefighters in NYC responded to a blaze that engulfed an empty six-story building that was once the popular European-style nightclub Pacha NYC in Hell’s Kitchen. The nightclub was a top rated venue for a decade before shutting down in 2016, and up until 2020, the building hosted a haunted house. The structure observed smoke and fire early morning tuesday around 8am at 616 W46th St from the third floor. Firefighters and EMS personnel assisted with the fire for about 90 minutes, controlling it fully around 9:32am. According to FDNY, about 25 units responded to the fire, with minor injuries. There were six ambulances in the vecinity, and W46th Street on the west side of 11th Avenue was shut down. According to formal complaints filled at the Department of Buildings in November, neighbors reported squatters in the vacated building. This resulted in lots of debris, garbage, and clutter throughout the building. Before all this, Pacha nightclub was celebrated in the building, which was built in the 1920s. The club won Best Superclub at the Club World Awards for five years, before shutting down in 2016. The buildings propriety remains uncertain, thought. According to W42ST news, it is not clear in City records who kept ownership of the portfolio of records. Nevertheless, the current owner appears to be 616-620 WEST 46TH STREET LLC. That block saw a recent fire back in November, where a derelict car wash engulfed in flames across from the building.Firefighters Put Down Fire at Former Pacha Nightclub in NYC
