In this interview with Jacob, we dive into the creative process behind the track, his goals for the production, and how it reflects where he is now in his musical journey. Here, he also shares insights into his workflow, production techniques, and what lies ahead as he continues to make his mark in the Electronic Music world. Hi Jacob, how are you? I’m doing great. I’ve been on a creative wave lately so I’m excited about what’s been happening as well as what’s to come. Can you start by telling us about the process behind ‘Lost Frequency’? How did the track develop? A lot of trial and error to say the least. I’m always looking to create something new and fresh, so you got to take a lot of time to experiment until you get it right. What were some of your goals when producing ‘Lost Frequency’? Were you aiming for a specific impact or message with this track? Like I just mentioned earlier, the goal is to create something that doesn’t give the listener a standard listening experience but more about creating a song that makes the listener “take a double look” and come back to it like, ‘man that was interesting.’ In terms of arrangement, ‘Lost Frequency’ has a strong flow and dynamic build. How did you decide on the structure, and what were some key elements you focused on to keep listeners engaged? I tried to keep the song atmospheric which helped create that mysterious gloomy feel. The main idea was to keep that type of energy and just build around it with the groove of the drums and bass. As you evolve your sound, how would you say ‘Lost Frequency’ represents where you are right now in your musical journey? The journey never ends but I’d say that I’m exactly where I need to be and headed the direction I need to go. I feel this new sound I’m creating will create its own wave in the Dance world. How did you go about selecting and shaping the sounds for ‘Lost Frequency’? Were there any specific techniques or plugins you used to create its unique textures? Just a lot of different types of sound manipulation with phasers, delays, reverbs etc. Which part of the production process did you enjoy most? The end when I finished lol! Actually, completing the song is the most gratifying especially when you’re your own worst critic. Have you had the chance to test ‘Lost Frequency’ live yet? If so, how did the crowd respond to it? Unfortunately, not yet, but it has received airplay all around the world already, which I get updates on every day, so that itself is very exciting. Did any parts of the track come from experimentation? Were there any new samples, equipment, or techniques you explored in ‘Lost Frequency’? There’s more in the chamber. Look out for another in a few weeks.
