MRAK, the solo project of Afterlife co-founder Carmine Conte (one-half of Tale Of Us), has released a bold new three-track EP titled Smoke, out now via Afterlife. The release continues Conte’s introspective evolution as a solo artist, diving deeper into conceptual, emotionally-driven soundscapes that fuse storytelling with immersive club energy.

A Vision That’s More Than the Dancefloor

While Afterlife is known for its sweeping, melodic techno aesthetic, MRAK digs even further inward. This solo venture focuses on storytelling, transformation, and emotional immersion — all of which are on full display across Smoke’s three finely crafted cuts.

The Tracks

  • ‘Smoke’ – The long-awaited, heavily ID’d opener finally gets its release. Dark and hypnotic, it combines grounded drumwork with flickering synths and a smoky, ghost-like vocal that drifts through the fog. Trance chords erupt midway, adding lift and unity to the vibe.
  • ‘Nobody’ – A brooding groove underscored by deep bass and tight percussion. Floating overhead is a soulful vocal sample, giving the track a fragile, human feel without losing momentum.
  • ‘All Of The Lights’ – A deeper, more forceful finale, driven by rumbling low end, sharp drums, and epic, echoing vocals. The chords climb to match the emotional weight of the voice, ending the EP on a cinematic, high-impact note.
