Recorded Between Air Raids: Apashe’s New ‘Hymns of Resilence’ EP is a Cinematic Tribute to Ukraine

Apashe has released a deeply personal EP, Hymns Of Resilience, through his own label Majestic Collective. The project features Ukrainian artist Alina Pash and was recorded entirely in Kyiv with a local choir and chamber orchestra.

The EP draws directly from Apashe’s experiences in Ukraine, where he spent time working amid ongoing conflict. Sessions took place last summer, interrupted by air raids and shelling, with the team recording on calmer days between disruptions. The work carries a clear anti-war stance, rooted in the artist’s long-standing ties to the country.

Ukraine has been part of Apashe’s career since its early stages. He performed there frequently, building connections with fans and collaborators that shaped his music. The full-scale invasion began just days before he was scheduled to return for a show, an event that shifted his perspective and directly influenced this release.

Resilience‘ is the intro track that sets the tone with choral layers and restrained vocals It feels like a quiet gathering of voices before the weight hits with ‘Kyiv‘, the lead single and centerpiece, featuring Alina Pash. Her vocal delivery carries a direct emotional charge over Apashe’s signature orchestral-electronic hybrid—strings swell into heavy drops, but the production stays controlled throughout the track. The track builds tension through dynamic shifts between sparse verses and denser, impactful choruses. ‘Resistance‘ is the longest track of the EP, leaning into more extended builds and rhythmic drive. It layers choral elements with bass-heavy drops and subtle percussion.

Leading the EP rollout, the music video for the track “Kyiv” premiered a few days ago on YouTube. Co-directed by Apashe and longtime collaborator Adrian Villagomez (who has worked on previous Apashe videos like ‘Majesty,’ ‘Human,’ and ‘Witch,’ as well as projects for Denzel Curry, The Kid LAROI, and others), the video combines precise choreography with cinematography layered in cultural symbolism. Filmed in Ukraine during the war, it includes sequences shot under active conditions, with the choir recorded between air raids.

All artist proceeds from the EP will be donated to Children Of Heroes Charity.

Speaking about the EP, Apashe shares:

Ukraine has always held a special place in my heart. Early in my career, I played many shows there, built deep connections with fans, and formed friendships that have stayed with me to this day. When the invasion began, I was only days away from returning to perform. Witnessing its impact on the lives of people I love, and on a country that means so much to me, was devastating.

Being there, you realize how hard it is to truly understand the severity of the situation from afar. It’s only when you’re on the ground—working, listening, living alongside people—that the reality fully sets in. While working on this project in Kyiv, we were under shelling, a stark reminder of what daily life looks like there. For ten days, we lived it: sleeping in shelters during bombings, witnessing the physical destruction, and experiencing firsthand the toll it takes on people’s mental well-being.

That’s why this project is so deeply personal. Returning to reconnect with old friends and collaborate with Ukraine’s incredible creative community was life-changing. Despite everything, the resilience, strength, and creative drive of the artists we worked with is unwavering. I hope this project helps amplify Ukrainian voices and offers a more honest perspective on what they’re living through.”
