Update 10/26 12:09 p.m. ET: Rihanna will share new song “Lift Me Up,” taken from the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack, on Friday, October 28.

A press release notes that “Lift Me Up” was “written as a tribute to the extraordinary life and legacy of Chadwick Boseman” by Tems, Ludwig Göransson, Rihanna, and Black Panther director Ryan Coogler. The song was recorded in five countries and was produced by Göransson.

Marvel have hinted at something new coming from Rihanna later this week. A short clip posted on the movie studio’s Twitter account on Wednesday begins with the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever logo but slowly drifts away until only the ‘R’ remains alongside the October 28 date.

The ‘R’ is accompanied by a caption consisting simply of the eyes emoji and the hashtag ‘#WakandaForever. Check it out below. Further information remains TBC. The FADER has contacted reps for Rihanna and Marvel.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is due out on November 11. The first Black Panther movie, released in 2018, featured a soundtrack curated by Kendrick Lamar. His song “All The Stars” featuring SZA was included on the accompanying album alongside songs from Vince Staples, Jorja Smith, Travis Scott, and The Weeknd.

Last month Rihanna was confirmed as the headline act at the 2023 Super Bowl half-time show.

Little concrete information has emerged about her follow-up to 2016’s Anti – Rihanna confirmed in a Vogue interview published in April that it is still in the works, though her approach to music has changed since the birth of her first child with her partner, A$AP Rocky. She’ll take the stage on February 12, 2023 at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale,
