An unexpected turn of events has hit Marco Carola’s event brand, Music On, this morning in Amsterdam. Just ahead of doors opening, the official pages of Music On addressed their audience, explaining that the Amsterdam municipality had revoked the permits needed to run the festival. The event was scheduled to take place throughout the weekend, on May 9th and 10th, and included plans for two after-parties. According to reports from the NL Times, the Amsterdam municipality made the decision to revoke the festival permit due to negative safety advice regarding the tent structures. The determination was made by the Environmental Agency, and an official statement from the Amsterdam authorities is expected to follow. Although the festival grounds at Meerpark will remain closed, organizers have confirmed that the scheduled after-parties will proceed as planned at the Hemkade 48 venue. The festival had curated an impressive lineup selected by Marco Carola for two days and nights of house and techno. The roster featured artists such as Max and Luke Dean, Alisha, Josh Baker, Luciano, Franky Rizardo, Wade, Ameme, and a back-to-back set from Dennis Cruz and Ilaria Alicante. While the main festival is cancelled, the ‘Music On By Night’ after-parties will continue on Saturday and Sunday, featuring performances by Marco Carola b2b Dennis Cruz, East and Dubs, Mason Collective, and Franky Rizardo. Event organizers have stated they will require additional time to address attendee questions and refund procedures. Despite the setback in Amsterdam, the Music On brand remains focused on its upcoming Ibiza residency at Destino Five Ibiza, hosted by Pacha Icons. The venue, which saw its grand opening this past January, will host Music On for nine dates throughout the summer. The residency promises a stacked lineup each day, with notable appearances from Chris Stussy, Damien Lazarus, Pawsa, Loco Dice, Carlita, Ahmed Spins, Adriatique, and a b2b set from Paco Osuna and Ilario Alicante.Amsterdam Authorities Shut Down Music On Festival Hours Before Kickoff
