Check out Adult Swim’s new jazz compilation New Jazz Century

The century so far has been pretty awful, but Adult Swim is here to save the next 80 or so years (hopefully) with their new collection New Jazz Century. The album contains brand new music from brilliant modern jazz composers like Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah, Matana Roberts, Colin Stetson, and more. One quick listen through and the 15-track project offers refreshing blasts of compositions carried between galaxies via wormholes and into your ears.

Adult Swim’s Luke Rhodes put the collection together, and shared a few words about it:

“Jazz is an influence that’s always been in the background of the sorts of music we play on Adult Swim, particularly electronic and hip hop. But we’ve only recently started bringing that influence into the foreground. A compilation seemed like an opportunity to bring jazz more into the spotlight, as well as to introduce our audience to some modern currents in the jazz scene. We tried to narrow it down to a group that showed how much diversity is in the genre today, both in terms of who is playing jazz and what they’re doing with the form.”
