Denon DJ Reveals Prime Go, A Battery-Powered, Portable Controller

Interested in taking your DJing skills to the next level but held back by equipment? Many of us would like to be able to take their DJ setup with them while traveling but are unable to due to size, weight, and power restrictions. Additionally, their size and capabilities outside of a controlled, indoor environment often fall short of expectations. Fortunately, Denon DJ has revealed a new portable controller, perfect for the everyday traveler.

Prime Go, Denon DJ’s recently revealed piece of hardware, is unlike any DJ controller on the market. Even though the Prime Go is a fraction of the size of a conventional controller, it doesn’t miss out on any key features. In fact, the Prime Go is one powerful device by itself. For example, its rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides 4 hours of solid use. Finally, you’ll be able to play sets without worrying about finding a power supply! You’ll even be able to connect a speaker directly to the controller. Most impressively, the Prime Go features built-in Wi-Fi, perfect for downloading tracks on the go.

With such a portable device, Denon DJ was still able to fit a 7-inch display with gesture control. The screen quality itself looks well lit and easy to read from the pictures and videos posted thus far. In terms of operating system, Denon DJ states they’ve put a full-featured operating system in all their Prime hardware. Specifically, their Engine OS gives users a fluent, yet familiar experience when using any one of their products.

Price-wise, the Prime Go comes in at $999. Given the amount of features and portability the controller provides, it seems to be a fair asking price. At the moment, anyone can pre-order the Prime Go by going to Denon DJ’s website here. An official release is expected sometime in late Q1 of this year.
