Miss Monique is a young Ukrainian DJ/Producer who has flew onto the scene over the last 3-4 years with dramatic effect. One of the leading names in Progressive House right now, she epitomized her burgeoning rise with the fact she was offered to perform the highly lauded Cercle live stream recently over in Montreal. We caught up with her to discuss her summer, her label Siona Records, and her upcoming plans for the rest of the year: Hey Miss Monique, first of all we wanted to send our best wishes to everybody in Ukraine right now How has your summer been for you career wise? Any highlight gigs that you have been especially thrilled with? Hi EDM Tunes, thank you for support of Ukraine. Well, for my career this summer was full of bright and unforgettable moments: I played at Tomorrowland for the first time, had a chance to join to David Guetta’s & Morten’s Future Rave event in the best club of the world – HЇ in Ibiza. Also I visited so many new, unique and interesting places. I was enjoying this summer a lot, but from another side I have pain for my home. This summer was incredible for my career and painful for my private life at the same time. What is one venue that you would really like to play at that you haven’t played yet? One of the first names that comes into my head – Burning Man. This year I watched so many cool videos, and read the craziest feedbacks about this festival. So I would really like to play there sometime in the future for sure! Any pre-show rituals that you can share with us? There is nothing special but I have to sleep at least 1-2 hours before the set. Also most of the time before I join the party I check insta stories and where people mention me, and then seeing how excited they are makes me feel amazing and not nervous at all ? You recently released a collab track with Cherry(UA) “Plato” on your label Siona Records – how did that collaboration come about? Cherry(UA) is one of my favourite producers. I like his sound creativity so much. We have already worked together in the past but that was a few years ago. Oleg sent me Plato as an idea of a new collaboration and I loved it from the first listen so we started to work on it. Do you have any tips for any people just starting out with music production? Be original. Nowadays novice DJs are trying to imitate someone else, but only the one who understands that being original and not being a copy is cool, shall begin to get his audience. And regarding your label, how long has it currently been running, and whats the ethos for it? We started Siona only 3 years ago but the results that we already have received are great. I’m very proud about our teamwork and the artists who trust us their music. Siona Records was originally conceived as a community of young artists who had great musical material, but lacked a platform to showcase their creativity. Also, Siona is not interested in numbers of artist’s social medias, all that we are looking for is an interesting sound. Do you have any plans to run label parties around the world? Yes. Right now we are working on this idea and I hope we shall announce the first Siona Showcase soon! What’s the best and worst thing about running your own label in 2022? There are a lot of great things. For example, you have a chance to help artists to showcase their music for a bigger audience, but at the same time we are receiving a lot of demos and for my mixes I always have cool and exclusive unreleased material. As for bad things, I guess too many mails with a sound that is not on Siona’s style but you still have to listen to every demo because you never know when you will find “that one” track. What are you currently working on and have planned for the rest of the year? Recently I was focusing a lot of energy on my recent stream together with Cercle, that happened on the 3rd October in a unique place in Canada – island with Biosphere. Also my gigs schedule is full till the end of the year, so I’m very excited that the next months of travelling. I shall play in Brasil, Australia for the first time, and back to that countries where I already have been but always happy to be back. At the same time we are continuing to work for Siona, searching for some new ideas and preparing the start of Siona Records Showcases. https://www.facebook.com/MissMoniqueUAEDMTunes Chats with Miss Monique
