Megan Thee Stallion‘s debut album Good News is out today, and the rapper offered a scathing rundown of the shooting incident involving her and Tory Lanez on its opening track, “Shots Fired.” Back in July, Lanez allegedly shot Meg in both feet, resulting in bullet wounds and requiring stitches.
The track does not mention Lanez’s name directly, and samples Notorious B.I.G.’s “Who Shot Ya.” Megan’s lyrics reveal that the gun Lanez allegedly fired at her was actually loaded with pellets, and mentions she and her friend were both offered money in exchange for silence (“You offered M’s not to talk / I guess that made my friend excited,”) a detail she also mentioned in her recent GQ cover story. From there, Meg takes swipes at Lanez’ height and references an initial plan not to tell police she was shot. (“Who a snitch? / I ain’t never went to the police with no names.”)
Lanez recently pleaded not guilty to charges of assault in connection to the incident earlier this week. He faces a maximum of 22 years in prison and is due back in court in the new year. Back in September, Lanez himself tried to address the situation on his album DAYSTAR, and has continued to deny the allegations since being formally charged.
