Well, here we are: stuck in this odd limbo between the 2020 events season being fully cancelled, and those holding out and hoping for the best. Movement Detroit – the legendary techno festival over Memorial Day weekend – looks to be one of the last festivals standing this spring. As one of the only events that hasn’t cancelled or postponed, people have been awaiting news. They shared a post to their Facebook today, explaining that their team is “currently developing contingency plans.” The CDC’s current recommendation on cancelling large gatherings technically ends a few weeks prior to Movement. With that, in theory, they could stick with the date and start the (quite delayed) festival season with a bang. That said, we have no idea if the current pandemic will be in a better state by that point. We respect Movement’s organizers in their attempt to maintain transparency in this trying time. On top of this update, the team also provided insight into their refund policy if this year is cancelled: “In the event that Movement is postponed to a new date, all current tickets will be valid for the rescheduled dates or Movement 2021. Refunds will be available for those who are unable to attend either edition.
