sea oleena releases her first album in 6 years

Well this was a nice surprise to wake up to this morning: Montreal's sea oleena has returned with her first full-length since 2014's shallow, and after a few listens, I feel good calling Weaving a Basket a contender for the most gorgeous album of 2020. oleena has created an achingly beautiful, balm-like work of misty, unhurried ambient dream-folk, with haunting samples (a bit of piano taken from a song by Nick Drake's mother Molly on the opening track "Will I Know", birds chirping on "Carrying", crashing waves in "On Possession", what sounds like children playing in the distance on "Gardens") lending the songs a glowing, wistful aura, and it's all taken to another otherworldly level by oleena's impossibly ethereal voice.
